BCAS Meetings

Sat Oct. 1st, 2011
1:00 - 4:00 PM
The Caring Place

We thought that our first meeting of our new season should be held at a place central to all. So it will be held at the Caring Place in Richmond on Sat. Oct.1st from 1:00 - 4:00PM. As there were no nominations received for our Executive positions the current executive has agreed to continue for the 2011/2012 term. Swearing in will take place at our October 1st meeting. We will also welcome new members and discuss what is wanted at future meetings.

NOTE: The BC Ataxia Society does not meet during the summer months. Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you in the Fall.

Sat. May 21st, 2011
1:00 - 4:00 PM
Burnaby, BC

Because of a busy time and family commitments from all Executive members, our next meeting has been scheduled for Saturday May 21st from 1-4PM.It will be held in the boardroom of The Firefighters Club Banquet and Conference Centre  in Burnaby, BC. We will be having a special guest from the Okanagan joining us. Shane McLeod has two friends with Friedreich's Ataxia. He has always wanted to help them by putting his event planning skills to work and organizing a fundraising walk or run.He contacted us asking if we would be interested. This not only will provide great awareness for Ataxia but will help raise much needed funds for research. This meeting will be a brainstorming session to come up with ideas, date, place, etc. So, if you would like to be included in the planning of this exciting fundraiser or can offer your help in any way then please plan on attending this fun meeting.

Sat. March 12th, 2011
1:00PM - 4:00PM
The Caring Place
Richmond, BC

A special meeting will be held on Sat, March 12th to discuss our Cantena submission. No matter whether you have Friederich’s Ataxia or another form of ataxia or whether you are a patient or caregiver, as long as you are affiliated with the BC Ataxia Society then your input is needed. Cantena is a first step in finding a cure. It will hopefully have a domino effect in helping other forms of ataxia – paving the way to a ‘normal’ life for all of us.  FA or not, I hope you will consider attending. We all must work together to find a cure.
